I'm tired. Of course, I'm always tired, but I picked a lot of stuff at my community garden plot today. That meant I'd have to process it all before I go to bed. It's not all completely "processed" yet, but everything's put away in the fridge for tomorrow. Turnips are ready to cut up and cook for the freezer or can. I think I'll put them in little jelly jars. A few turnips go a long way. The turnip greens are all washed and in a big pitcher vase in the fridge to stay hydrated. The processing time on greens is way too long, so those will be put in the freezer after they're cooked. My pinto green beans are in a plastic bag, all washed and ready to put into canning jars..... as soon as I wash the jars! I'm very disappointed that my pinto green beans turned out to not be real pintos. The plastic bag in the grocery store aisle was labeled pinto beans. But what the beans produced is not the pinto green beans I used to grow. So.... I'll have to buy several brands of pintos in the spring and find out which brand I should be buying to cook for REAL pinto beans, besides using to plant. There's another bag of Roma II green beans that need to be snapped and washed for jars, too. I'll have to put the pintos in a different kind of jars, so I'll know which ones are which variety. I also picked about 5 Chinese cabbages from one of my community gardeners that told me I was welcome to pick. They said to stir fry them. I had to peel off each leaf to get the dirt out. I couldn't resist tasting them raw. Mmmmm. Stems are crunchy, too. Stir fry will be good.

The real treat was the white icicle radishes. I've never eaten the greens before. I sauteed some frozen onion seasoning mix in some olive oil, then added some homegrown garlic and the diced radishes and some pepper. No salt for me, but salt would be good. After the radishes were caramelized and almost tender, I added the rough chopped radish greens and cooked until they were well wilted. The house smelled divine and the radishes tasted wonderful. The greens weren't bad either! I think they could have been cooked a little longer, as I could still detect the stickers, but it wasn't bad. The stickers WERE bad while I was cleaning them, though. OUCH! I guess I should have been wearing rubber gloves working in the water anyway.

Now to get some rest and prepare for another busy day tomorrow.
